Peterborough Selectwoman Karen Hatcher, speaking about the veto during the board’s meeting on Tuesday, said Peterborough “has been hit twice” by the Governor’s rejection of the budget.
Under the legislative budget, towns could have expected $40 million in shared state revenue, as well as an increase in school stabilization funds. Both of those could have created opportunities for lower taxes for Peterborough and the rest of the ConVal Regional School District.
“It impacts all of us,” Hatcher said. She worried the veto would mean that “all the good work” done to find an education funding solution that was palatable to both sides of the legislature might be for nothing
